Three simple stages

Stage 1 – Apply

Apply quickly and easily using our online application system. If you’re applying for a permanent or a specialist role, you’ll need to attach a copy of your CV.

We’ll email you when we get your application. And we’ll email or call you again within 14 days. So please make sure the contact details on your application are correct and that you check your emails regularly. You’ll find tips on applying online in our FAQs section.

Stage 2 – Inspire us

If we shortlist your application, the chances are we’ll invite you to an Assessment Centre here at Alton Towers Resort. We use Assessment Centres to recruit for all our operational roles, although specialist, management and many permanent roles may involve additional stages.

Merlin Assessment Centres

We decide whether or not to offer all fixed-term and many permanent roles to people based on how they perform at Assessment Centres. Our business thrives on communication and interaction, not only between our front-line staff and our guests, but also between departments and individuals in the business. Because the Assessment Centre is so interactive, it gives you the chance to show you have the key skills we look for.

What to expect

Our Assessment Centres are fun, help you relax and give you a great opportunity to show off your strengths and skills. The main exercise is in a group – you’ll take part in various tasks along with other applicants.

For certain roles, there may also be a short individual exercise. For instance, if you’ve applied for a commercial role, we’ll ask you to do a numeracy test; or if you’re interested in a specialist role in, say, First Aid, we’ll ask you to complete a knowledge-based exercise.

The Assessment Centre ends with an individual interview, which gives you another chance to tell us about your skills.

Our advice? Be yourself, relax and enjoy the experience. Above all, get involved.

  • What to bring

Bring documents that prove you have the right to work in the UK. This applies to everyone, regardless of nationality. If you don’t have these documents with you on the day, we can’t carry on with the recruitment process. For a full list of relevant documents click here.

  • What to wear

Wear clothes that show you’re serious about creating a great impression for our guests.

Stage 3 – The outcome

We usually phone or email 10 to 14 days after your interview or Assessment Centre to tell you whether or not you’ve got the job.

Administrative, support and professional recruitment

The specific role, its level and the number of applicants all affect whether you go through an interview or Assessment Centre. We always try hard to make you feel comfortable so that you’re at your best. But whatever the outcome, we find most people enjoy the day and learn a lot from it.

If you've been to one of our Assessment Centres or events and would like to give us feedback, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
